Experiences of my Ayurveda Therapy
Delegate and member of the Bavarian patient advisory board DMSG (German Multiple Sklerosis Society) is taking account of his Ayurveda Therapy in India

In course of my research about Ayurveda Therapy for people afflicted with MS I got to know Karin Drexler, an experienced specialist of India and Ayurveda. She was convinced Ayurveda can positively influence MS and potentially stop its progression. It was Karin Drexler who made it possible for me to attend an Ayurveda Therapy. In February we got on our way to Kerala, a state in the most southern part of India.

At the time of departure I was in a poor physical state, was in a lot of pain, had a severe disturbance of my sense of balance, difficulties to concentrate, imperative urge to urinate and almost no endurance. Despite of administered assistance I did not know how to manage the train ride to Frankfurt airport to begin with.

After viewing 3 suggested establishments I decided to not choose a resort but to go to Matha hospital in Alleypey in the state of Kerala. The clinic is located in the residential area of Alleypey and is holding 8 rooms only.

It was not the most beautiful, calm and cool establishment but it was a clean hospital which gave me the impression to be the most suitable establishment to provide for an earnest and reasonable treatment with individual care of seriously ill people and the right value for your money.

The head physician of the hospital was Dr. Darly James. After her studies at the Ayurveda College in Trivantrum (her focus was mainly on various Panchakharma Treatments), Dr. Darly James would proof 11 years of her knowledge and doing at the renown Sree Sankara Hospital (source: Global-Veda).
Ms. Dr. Darly James was experienced in patients with MS and left me with a very competent impression. The medicine was adjusted on a daily basis and was, to the most part, self made by her. Ms. Dr. Darly is living on premises and basically on a 24hr standby.

I enjoyed the friendliness and the therapists helpfulness, the warmth of India, the smiling faces, being taken serious, relaxing in a hammock, the marvelous synchronized full body oil massages & baths, other treatments like facial massages, mornings and evenings at the beach with the establishments delicious Ayurveda food. Within the first 3 weeks there was no real change to my condition.

My impatience came close to frustration. Somehow I was under the unrealistic impression my MS would disappear (ideally right after the second day of my arrival!) and I’d be able to live my life like in the old days, only without MS – nothing like it happened. It was about 11 years ago when I first got diagnosed with MS; after experiencing many therapies, often with only short term improvement, I was very hopeful of this natural therapy with no side effects which, according to my unrealistic way of thinking, was supposed to almost do magic. For a short period of time I was even thinking about quitting where, to me, it might as well could have been a waste of time and money..

In my 4th week I would start to notice some changes, pussy pimples similar to the ones back home in Germany which would appear whenever an inflammation or infect would make notice wanting to leave the body. At the time I didn’t notice my constant headache was almost gone. The pain in my leg which German doctors were trying to treat for years, my staggering walk (affected sense of balance) improved, my imperative need to urinate got better and altogether a more positive psychiatric condition was noticeable. Gee! – it was good for something after all!!

All the doctors I would talk to prior to the therapy would, if at all, give the therapy a chance, only if done for at least 6 to 8 weeks. Their opinion was to say if tolerated well by the individual, one is likely to experience a substantial improvement of existing symptoms as well as a stopping of the progression of the disease.

There was the one opinion of the doctors I could very well comply with, the one when they said my endeavor would have nothing to do with a wellness program and that I could speak of no success with two wrinkles less showing in my face and a firm skin, but I was dealing with a serious disease which I wanted to be treated as such.

I am very happy Karin Drexler enabled me to do this treatment and I am excited about all the changes showing in such a short period of time. Unfortunately, due to personal circumstances, I did not have the time to do a 6-week Ayurveda Therapy. I am convinced I am on my right way with Ayurveda Therapy and share Karin’s point of view – everything is going to be all right!

With the 3 and a half weeks therapy I took, along with all its positive experiences I was able to collect new energies, positive impressions and new knowledge. After my pending move I will give it a true chance with a really serious 5-6 weeks therapy.

Anybody sharing my point of view and with a serious interest to accompany me on my next Ayurveda Therapy I want to ask to get in touch with me. People afflicted with MS preferring to go on their own or with their family I’d be happy to assist with planning.
